
Audiology and Speech Pathology, Inc. is Palm Beach
County's most experienced and most respected speech and
hearing clinic, serving people with communicative handicaps
since 1978.
Dr. Mel Grant, Audiologist, is the
clinical director. Our staff consists of experienced Doctoral
or Masters level Audiologists and Speech Pathologists, each
with an average of 15-20 years experience.
Our Patient Care Coordinator will assist you in making an
appointment, provide insurance instructions, and assist you
upon arrival and departure.
The following are biographical
sketches of our staff members:
MEL
GRANT, Au.D, Doctor of Audiology Serving
Palm Beach County since l978. Began professional career in
Palm Beach County at Crippled Children’s Society in Palm Beach
as Audiology Director. Subsequently went into private
practice. Started and ran hearing screening for Head Start
program for all of Palm Beach County. Directed and ran the
Audiology Infant Screening Program at St. Mary's Hospital in
association with Kathryn Wilder from this office. Fellow of
the American Academy of Audiology. Certified by the American
Speech Language and Hearing Association. Affiliated with Palms
West Hospital, Wellington Regional Hospital, Good Samaritan
Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital. Past Chairman of
the Audiology Standards Committee for the Florida Speech,
Language and hearing Association. Past Chairman
of the Private Practice Committee for the Florida Speech
Language, and Hearing Association. Currently a member of the
Florida Speech, Language and Hearing Association; Florida
Academy of Audiology; American Audiology Association (AAA);
and the America Speech Language and Hearing Association
(ASHA).
Kathryn V. Wilder, Au.D., Doctor
of Audiology Kathryn
Wilder has been a clinical audiologist since 1977. She completed her
Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) at Arizona School of Health
Sciences in 2003 and has applied for board Certification with
the American Board of Audiology. Dr. Wilder’s work
history includes private Audiology practices, a
multidisciplinary diagnostic center and close association with
many ENT practices over the years. She has practiced in
Palm Beach county since 1987 working with all ages, newborn
through geriatric.
Arthur Zinaman, Au.D., Doctor
of Audiology Graduated from Ithaca College, N.Y. in 1987 with a
Master's Degree in Audiology. He also holds a Bachelors Degree
from SUNY Cortland in Speech Pathology and Audiology
(1985).
During his residency at University
Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., he was offered and accepted the
position of Staff Audiologist at the hospital's Communication
Disorder unit. He remained at this position for over six years
where he became proficient in advanced testing
techniques.
In 1994 Mr. Zinaman accepted a
position with Audiology and Speech Pathology where his
education continued learning various amplification strategies
including digital hearing aids. Personally
Mr. Zinaman is married, has two children, and lives in Royal
Palm Beach.
Wendy Grant,
M.A. Wendy Grant is a
certified speech and language pathologists, has been actively
practicing in the field for over 20 years. She received her
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont in
1974 and earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of
Florida in 1975.
Mrs. Grant's main area of focus in
the under graduate studies involved childhood language and
development. During her graduate school experience, she earned
an internship at the V.A. Hospital in Gainesville under the
direction of Dr. L. LaPointe. At this time, her main areas of
study were aphaslology and apraxia.
Upon graduation, Mrs. Grant opened
a speech and hearing clinic for the town of Lumberton, North
Carolina. She was responsible for the clinical and
administrational aspects of the clinic. She was involved in
providing in service training programs to area pre-school and
schools and conducted.
After moving to Florida, Mrs. Grant
became affiliated with several area hospitals. She created the
video fluoroscopy program at St. Mary's Hospital and developed
both the speech and language in-patient and out
patient.
In 1984, Mrs. Grant became
affiliated with Audiology and Speech Pathology, Inc. providing
speech, language and voice therapy programs. During this time,
her practice began to focus on children with developmental
delays and disorders. She has a strong interest in technology
and the use of technology to enhance therapeutic intervention.
She uses a variety of treatment methods to meet the needs of
each patient. She attends I.E.P. meetings when needed and
helps to set goals and provide suggestions for intervention
strategies for children with special needs.
